Millville Public Schools, Cumberland County, New Jersey
Program
Becica Associates was engaged by New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation to evaluate the adaptive reuse and expansion of an existing office building into a 615 student Early Childhood Center for the Millville School District. Alterations included reconfiguring 61,000 SF of space to accommodate 29 classrooms, parent and teacher meeting rooms, gross motor skills rooms, a full service kitchen, a wellness center, administrative and support areas. New construction included a 23,000 SF addition containing 12 classrooms and a multi-use space to be used for gross motor skill development and other large group instruction. Site work included restoration of existing paved areas, two separate play areas, as well as separate drives for buses and parent-student drop off areas. Adaptive reuse of the building and site addresses NJSCC’s initiative towards sustainable design practices. Project cost was funded and managed by New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation.
